of <h1>Director ID and Partnership ID Merged: PAN Now Required for Director Identification Number by September 30, 2011.</h1> The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has integrated the Director's Identification Number (DIN) under the Companies Act, 1956, with the Designated Partnership Identification Number (DPIN) under the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act, 2008, effective from July 9, 2011. This change eliminates the issuance of separate numbers, requiring individuals to obtain a DIN for both roles. Existing DPINs will be used as DINs and vice versa, with DPINs being canceled if both numbers were previously issued. Additionally, the Permanent Account Number (PAN) is mandatory for obtaining a DIN, and all holders must update their PAN details by September 30, 2011, to avoid penalties.
