of <h1>Ministry of Commerce directs SEZ units to pay suppliers from Foreign Currency Accounts under Para 4.16(a) of FTP.</h1> The circular from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, addresses the closure of Advance Authorisation licenses under Para 4.16(a) of the Foreign Trade Policy. It instructs Development Commissioners of Special Economic Zones to ensure SEZ units make payments from their Foreign Currency Accounts to suppliers. Failure to comply will result in liability under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992. The directive follows a decision made in a meeting on July 16, 2015, and references an official memorandum from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade dated July 15, 2015.
