<h1>Former CBDT Chairperson Appointed as Adviser on Tax Reforms to Guide Policy and Assist in Redrafting Income Tax Act.</h1> The government has appointed a former Chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes as an Adviser on Tax Reforms on a contract basis starting December 1, 2015, for six months or until decided otherwise. The Adviser will provide guidance on important files, evaluate suggestions for tax reforms, assist a committee led by a retired justice in redrafting sections of the Income Tax Act, and offer views on direct taxation policy matters. Following her retirement, her former duties will be temporarily managed by a current member of the CBDT until further notice.
