Cochin Customs House Launches BRC Verification for Exports; RBI Waives Some Docs for Exports Under $25k.
The Customs House in Cochin has implemented a Bank Realisation Certificate (BRC) verification module within the EDI system for exports. The Reserve Bank of India has waived the submission of certain export documents for goods and software valued up to US$ 25,000. Exporters must submit BRCs for all exports involving drawback claims within six months. The system alerts officials if BRCs are not submitted on time, potentially blocking drawback payments. Exporters must provide BRC details for all drawback shipping bills filed from June 1, 2004, with alerts for non-submission starting June 1, 2005.
