<h1>CBEC Circular Highlights Rules for Importing Hazardous Waste, Including Secondhand Photocopiers: Prior Consent and Clearances Required.</h1> Attention is drawn to the CBEC Circular No. 27/2011 regarding the import of hazardous waste under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling and Transboundary) Rules, 2008. The import of secondhand photocopiers is included under these rules. Importers must obtain Prior Informed Consent for items listed under A1180 and permission from the Ministry of Environment and Forests for items under B1110, which include electronic assemblies for direct reuse. Non-compliance will be treated as illegal traffic, requiring re-export within 90 days. Importers must present the necessary clearances from the Ministry at the time of arrival in India.
