Indian rice exporters must comply with these instructions, which include source registration of processing and packaging factories and obtaining necessary health permits. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India, has designated APEDA as the competent authority to issue required certificates, including health, GMO-free, and phenol residual-free certificates. Exporters must submit rice samples for testing at APEDA-approved laboratories and apply for certificates with a fee. Basmati rice export contracts must be registered with APEDA as per existing trade notices.
