of <h1>EASIEST System Update: New Non-Assessee Registrant Codes, Bank Instructions, and Software Changes Effective October 10, 2008.</h1> The circular addresses data quality improvements in the Electronic Accounting System in Central Excise and Service Tax (EASIEST). A new category of registrants, Non-Assessees, has been introduced, with specific registration codes generated by the CBEC system and transmitted to banks by NSDL. The structure of these codes varies based on the presence of a PAN. Banks are instructed not to upload challans with codes ending in ZZZ and to advise customers without an assessee code to obtain one from the Commissionerate. Software adjustments are required to accommodate these changes, effective from October 10, 2008.
