of <h1>New EASIEST Guidelines: CBEC to Generate Non-Assessee Codes for Better Data Quality; Software Updates Required by Oct 10, 2008.</h1> The circular addresses data quality in the Electronic Accounting System for Central Excise and Service Tax (EASIEST). It introduces a new category of non-assessee registrants whose codes will be generated by the CBEC system and transmitted by NSDL to banks. The structure for registration codes is specified for both Central Excise and Service Tax, with and without PAN. Banks are instructed not to upload challans with codes ending in ZZZ and to advise assessees without codes to obtain them from the Commissionerate. Software changes are required to accommodate these modifications, effective from October 10, 2008.
