India Revokes Licenses of 1,142 NGOs in Andhra Pradesh for Non-Compliance with Foreign Contribution Rules.
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has cancelled the licenses of 1,142 NGOs in the former state of Andhra Pradesh for failing to file mandatory annual returns as required under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 and related rules. Despite issuing show cause notices, many associations did not respond or had undeliverable addresses. Consequently, their registrations have been revoked. The District Magistrates are instructed to manage these associations' assets during the cancellation period, and the Reserve Bank of India has been notified. The decision aims to enforce compliance with foreign contribution regulations.
