of <h1>Ministry of Finance Adjusts Excise and Customs Duties, Affects Jaggery, Bamboo, LNG, and Metal Scrap; Effective May 8, 2013.</h1> The circular from the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, details changes in excise and customs duties effective from May 8, 2013. Excise duty on jaggery powder and bamboo products has been reduced, while certain agricultural products and materials for shipbuilding are exempted. Customs duty exemptions are extended for LNG and NG for specific public sector units, while duties on titanium dioxide, polymers, and metal scraps are increased. The special additional duty exemption on brass scrap is withdrawn. These changes are formalized through notifications 16/2013-Central Excise, 25/2013-Customs, and 26/2013-Customs.
