The Commission, chaired by Dr. Parthasarathi Shome, will function as an advisory body to the Ministry of Finance for 18 months, providing reports every three months. Its mandate includes reviewing tax governance structures, business processes, dispute resolution mechanisms, taxpayer services, and compliance enforcement. The Commission aims to enhance efficiency, broaden the tax base, and improve inter-agency information sharing, supported by a Secretariat in Delhi.
