Amendment to Foreign Trade Policy: Submit Certified Copies for Shipping Bills and BRCs with Indemnity Bond for Duty-Free Imports.
Amendments have been made to paragraph 4.30A of the Hand Book of Procedures, Vol. I (RE-2008) under the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09. These changes allow for the submission of a duplicate, customs certified, or self-attested copy of the shipping bill and a duplicate or bank certified copy of the Bank Realisation Certificate (BRC) in place of the originals. An indemnity bond must be provided by the exporter to indemnify the government against financial loss from duty-free import entitlements. Customs authorities must verify the authenticity of documents to prevent double benefits. These amendments are issued in public interest.
