of <h1>Service Tax Assessees Urged to Use Correct STP Codes in GAR-7 Challans; Check Directory Online for Accuracy.</h1> The Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs, and Service Tax, Vadodara-II, issued Trade Notice No. 6/2008-ST on July 29, 2008, addressing issues with incorrect Service Tax Payer Codes (STP Codes) in GAR-7 challans. Incorrect codes result in payments not being properly attributed to the correct assessee. The notice urges all Service Tax assessees to ensure the correct STP and Service Tax Codes are used in challans. A directory of codes is available on the Commissionerate's website for reference. Trade associations and advisory committee members are encouraged to disseminate this information among their networks.
