Merchant exporters exempt from security requirements if registered with Export Promotion Councils, unless adverse records exist.
Merchant exporters, excluding status holders like Super Star Trading Houses, were initially required to provide security and surety with export bonds. This requirement, introduced in a 2001 circular, was later suspended due to increased compliance costs. Following reports of export defaults, the Board has now decided to eliminate the requirement for security and surety for merchant exporters registered with recognized Export Promotion Councils, unless they have adverse records with the Department. This exemption aims to facilitate exports. Relevant parties are informed, and acknowledgment of receipt is requested. A Hindi version will be issued subsequently.
