Central Board assigns trade facilitation duties to DGEP, focusing on export schemes and customs improvements; audit duties shifted.
The circular outlines the allocation of trade facilitation responsibilities to the Directorate General of Export Promotion (DGEP) by the Central Board of Excise & Customs. DGEP will oversee various export promotion schemes, monitor their progress, and engage with trade stakeholders to suggest improvements in customs procedures. It will also review customs trade facilitation measures, study international best practices, and evaluate cargo clearance times. DGEP is authorized to gather information from customs formations for policy-level issues but will not address individual grievances. Certain audit responsibilities previously under DGEP have been reassigned to the Directorate of Drawback.
