<h1>India Allows Duty-Free Import of 5 Lakh Metric Tons of Wheat Until Feb 28, 2007, via Select Ports.</h1> The Government of India has issued a public notice allowing the import of 5 lakh metric tons of wheat at zero duty, as per an Ad-hoc Exemption Order from the Ministry of Finance. This import is permitted under the Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 and must be completed by February 28, 2007. The imports are restricted to be conducted through the State Trading Corporation and are only allowed at specified Indian ports: Chennai, Tuticorin, Cochin, Vishakhapatnam, Mangalore, and Kakinada. This measure is enacted in the public interest.
