of <h1>India Amends Import Policy: Permanent IEC for NGOs Importing Duty-Free Relief Goods for Natural Calamity Victims.</h1> Public Notice No. 58 (RE-2000)/1997-2002, dated February 26, 2001, amends the Handbook of Procedures by adding Sr. No. 11 to sub-paragraph (vi) of paragraph 4.6 of Chapter IV. This amendment grants a permanent Importer Exporter Code (IEC) No. 0100000126 to individuals, charitable institutions, and registered NGOs importing goods exempted from customs duty for use by victims of natural calamities. This change, made under the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002, addresses requests following a recent earthquake in Western India and aims to facilitate the import of relief goods by government departments and NGOs.
