of <h1>India Sets 2001 Export Limits: 500M Kg for Cotton Yarn, 20M Kg for Hank Yarn; Several Exemptions Apply.</h1> The circular issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade specifies the quantitative ceiling on the export of cotton yarn for the calendar year 2001. The limits are set at 500 million kilograms for cotton yarn of 1 to 40s counts and 20 million kilograms for hank yarn of 1 to 60s counts. Exemptions from these limits include exports by 100% Export Oriented Units, exports under the advance license scheme, exports based on imported cotton, and exports of processed yarn, among others. The directive is effective from January 1, 2001, and aims to regulate exports in the public interest.
