India Amends Export Rules to Allow Peanut Exports to EU with New Certification Requirements.
The Government of India's Ministry of Commerce has issued Public Notice No. 68 (RE)/1997-2002, amending Schedule 2 Appendix 1 of the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items for 1997-2002. Effective February 3, 1999, the amendment introduces a new entry, S.No.39, allowing the export of peanuts to the European Union. This export is contingent upon mandatory registration of contracts with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and requires a controlled aflatoxin level certificate from APEDA-nominated agencies or laboratories. This amendment is issued in the public interest.
