of <h1>Finance Ministry Reviews Duty on Intermediate Yarns for Chaddars; Data Submission Required by September 5, 2007.</h1> The Ministry of Finance issued instructions regarding the assessment of intermediate yarns used in the manufacture of Chaddars, following representations from a local association. Previously, intermediate yarns were exempt from duty if the base yarn was taxed, but post-2003, this exemption ceased, creating a duty liability on intermediate yarns despite Chaddars being exempt under SSI Notification No. 8/2003. A survey is being conducted to assess the duty practices on these yarns from 2003 to 2004. Relevant data must be submitted by September 5, 2007, to address a pending VIP reference.
