DGFT Extends Optional Use of EFT for License Fees Until March 31, 2006; Exporters Urged to Set Up EFT Accounts.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has made the electronic fund transfer (EFT) system for remitting license fees optional until March 31, 2006. Exporters can choose between EFT, Treasury Challan, or Demand Draft. Mandatory electronic submission of certain applications with digital signatures will continue, with fee concessions for digital submissions. Manual DEPB applications are being phased out in favor of ECOM applications on the DGFT website, with specific guidelines for manual DEPB shipping bills from both notified EDI and non-EDI ports. Exporters are urged to complete necessary EFT account formalities with designated banks by the deadline to avoid disruptions.
