DGFT Halts PSI Certificates from Select Agencies Over False Reports, Ammo in Scrap Imports; Full Inspections Mandated.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) certificates from certain agencies listed under Appendix V due to reports of false certifications and instances of ammunition found in imported metal scrap. The affected agencies include firms from Kuwait, the Netherlands, the UK, Japan, the USA, Madagascar, and India. Until a thorough investigation is completed, these certificates will not be accepted by Customs. However, consignments with a Bill of Lading dated on or before December 1, 2005, accompanied by certificates from these agencies, will be subject to 100% inspection.
