Exporters can now deface foreign buyer details in shipping bills to protect confidentiality in export documentation.
Exporters have raised concerns about the leakage of confidential information, such as the name and address of foreign buyers, from shipping bills submitted during export/import documentation. To address this, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade has decided to permit the defacement of such information in shipping bills and related documents. These defaced documents will be accepted by Regional Authorities for processing under various export promotion schemes, provided all other application requirements are met. This decision has been approved by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
