DGFT Clarifies DEPB Scheme: Frozen Meat Eligibility Amended; Fish Only Until May 7, 1999, All Meats Thereafter.
The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade clarifies the eligibility of frozen meat products under the Duty Entitlement Pass Book (DEPB) scheme. Initially, the DEPB rate applied to all frozen meats, including fish, buffalo, and chicken, as per Public Notice No. 10 dated May 1, 1998. However, an amendment on November 11, 1998, limited the DEPB benefit to fish meat only until May 7, 1999. From May 8, 1999, all meat products became eligible under a different serial number in the food product category. This directive was issued with the approval of the DGFT.
