<h1>Customs Duty Reduced on Chemicals, Metals, and More; No Duty on Portland Cement; Effective Immediately.</h1> Notification No. 6/2007-Customs, dated January 22, 2007, announces changes in customs duty rates effective immediately. The duty on inorganic chemicals and Carbon Black Feedstock has been reduced from 10% to 5%. Primary and semi-finished forms of copper, aluminum, zinc, tin, and other base metals see a reduction from 7.5% to 5%. Duties on aluminum, copper, and zinc pipes and fittings drop from 12.5% to 7.5%. Calcined alumina, ferro-alloys, stainless steel, and refractories also see reductions. Portland cements now have no duty, and specified capital goods and project imports have reduced rates. Airport and metro rail projects are included under project imports.
