of <h1>Finance Ministry withdraws 1951 customs facilities for diplomatic officers, replaced by Baggage Rules 1994</h1> Government of India's Ministry of Finance withdrew 1951 instructions regarding customs facilities for diplomatic officers returning from foreign assignments. The 1951 provisions, which included Transfer of Residence facilities for officers recalled in public interest before completing normal tenure, were superseded by Baggage Rules, 1994. While most concessions from the original instructions are covered under current Baggage Rules, the Ministry will consider ad-hoc exemptions on merit for specific cases where existing rules don't provide appropriate duty relief, particularly for officials recalled prematurely in public interest.
