New Policy Allows EOUs to Subcontract 50% Production for Job Work in DTA Without Duty, Enhancing Export Competitiveness.
The circular addresses the removal of brass borings/scrap to job workers for recycling into brass bars. An Export Oriented Unit (EOU) raised concerns that previous regulations hindered their production and export competitiveness. The Board has re-evaluated the policy, allowing EOUs to subcontract up to 50% of their production for job work in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) without duty payment, aligning with the Export and Import Policy 2002-2007. The earlier Circular No. 15/96-Cus is withdrawn, and EOUs can now remove scrap for conversion into ingots/bars, following the procedure outlined in Circular No. 65/2002-Cus.
