of <h1>Customs Board relaxes graduation requirements for CHA license candidates who appeared before August 1998 examinations</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs clarified qualification requirements for Customs House Agent (CHA) examinations under CHALR'84 regulations. Following amendments in 1997 that introduced graduation as a requirement for temporary CHA licenses, questions arose about applying this condition to different examination categories. The Board determined that temporary license holders who appeared in December 1997/August 1998 examinations would not need graduation qualification for permanent licenses. For persons sponsored under Regulation 9(5) by regular CHAs, graduation requirements would not be enforced for candidates who appeared before August 28, 1998, since the graduation condition was only mentioned in a circular rather than the original notification. All pending cases should be decided according to these clarifications, effectively relaxing graduation requirements for certain categories of CHA examination candidates.
