DEPB Shipping Bills with Export Orders Between Sept 10 and Oct 17, 1997 Can Convert Under Rule 12 Relaxation
Export Promotion Councils faced difficulties claiming drawback under the new Duty Entitlement Pass-Book Scheme (DEPB) introduced in the 1997-2002 Export and Import Policy. After review, it was decided that DEPB shipping bills with export orders dated between September 10, 1997, and October 17, 1997, may be converted into Drawback Shipping Bills, relaxing the conditions of Rule 12 of the Customs & Central Excise Duties Drawback Rules, 1995. Relevant public notices and standing orders will be issued promptly to guide trade and staff.
