The assessee claimed the jewellery belonged to family members: 350 grams to wife, 200 grams to daughter, and 100 grams each to himself, his father, and his son. The assessee relied on CBDT Instruction No. 1916 dated 11.05.1994, which provides guidelines on presumptive limits of jewellery held by family members not to be seized or treated as unexplained.
