Issues: Whether the compensation awarded for serious permanent injuries and 95% disablement required enhancement.
Analysis: The appellant had suffered grievous injuries in a motor accident, remained hospitalised for several months, underwent surgical operations, was left paralysed for life, and required lifelong medical attention and constant assistance for ordinary needs. On these admitted facts, the original award was found inadequate when assessed against the appellant's remaining life and current money value.
Conclusion: The compensation was enhanced to Rs. six lakhs in all, and the appeal was allowed.
