Curb the Growing menence of suicide

Guest
Rising Youth Suicide Rates in India Highlight Need for Legal Reforms and Societal Change Under IPC Sections 306 and 309 The article discusses the rising suicide rates among young people in India, emphasizing the need for legal reforms and societal changes to address this issue. It suggests that existing laws, like sections 306 and 309 of the Indian Penal Code, are inadequate and calls for new legislation to impose legal obligations on those related to individuals contemplating suicide. The author advocates for better communication between parents and children, changes in the education system to include subjects like meditation, and increased awareness of alternative paths to success. Responses from others highlight the importance of understanding personal strengths and weaknesses and managing expectations to prevent depression and suicidal tendencies. (AI Summary)

I am Kapil Chandna, a student of Law;

Wish to write something on suicide.

As we are seeing the growth in the rate of suicide especially among the young future of our country, I think there need to be law which should protect suicide. We have sections 306 and 309 in IPC that deals with suicide, but there is no provision present in our Penal Code that will help to cut this growing menace. My study on suicide shows ,mostly the young who see's their future totally black out take this step to end up their life or who think they are not good to get other things, i.e. They like some one but other person does not feel the same for them. Most of the students, who fail to grab good marks or good job, think of ending their life. My whole concern in writing this is in a country like India people do things because they are legally bound to do something otherwise who cares to put a helmet while driving motorbike or seat belt while driving a car, So I think a law should be amended that will put a legal obligation on the person related to the one who take that extreme and foolish step of ending his/her life Parents should be asked to communicate more with their child especially when they find their child in a difficult situation because I have seen if the children face any problem in life they hardly speak to their parents, because they think the parents will even scold them for the problem rather helping them and they ask their friends to help them who are not good and mature enough to help them. Children should be motivated on what they have really achieved rather being told that they are not good to move with them because of their HIGH SOCIAL STATUS, some changes should also be brought in education system by bringing more and more subjects like art of living and benefits of meditation, so that when they grow up reading such subjects in their life, they should never think of ending their life for such things. Awareness should also be brought among them, that they can do others things if they fail in doing something ,More mediation and art f living camps by the state government should be provided in different places which will generate awareness. I have seen many students who are doing B.Tech ending their life. I look very strange seeing a graduation student ending his life. I think we all have to take some serious steps in cutting this growing menace by telling the students and their parents that life itself is an opportunity to do many things and there seems no reason for ending their life if they themselves or their children fail to get something for which even they tried very hard.
