<h1>Corporate social responsibility framework revised with higher applicability threshold, extended transfer period for unspent funds, and prescribed exemptions.</h1> Section 135 of the Companies Act is amended to revise the corporate social responsibility framework by increasing the applicability threshold from five crore to ten crore, or such sum as may be prescribed. The provision on unspent CSR funds is updated by substituting the phrase unspent amount, and the transfer period for such amount is extended from thirty days to ninety days. The penalty amount is also revised to one crore rupees, or such higher amount as may be prescribed, and a new sub-section allows prescribed classes of companies to be exempted from compliance.
