Export controls: contraventions trigger penalties and imprisonment under the WMD Act, with prior central sanction required.

Controls on export, import and transfer of specified goods, services and technology attract penalties and imprisonment as provided under the Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Act, 2005. Contravention, attempted contravention or abetment draws the imprisonment terms of that Act, without prejudice to other penalties, and no court may take cognizance without prior sanction of the Central Government or an authorized officer.
