Beedi and cigar work: state may permit wetting or cutting leaves outside premises subject to conditions and records.

The State Government may permit wetting or cutting of beedi or tobacco leaves outside industrial premises on an employer's application made on behalf of employees, subject to prescribed conditions; the employer must maintain prescribed records of such work. Employers generally may not require or allow manufacturing processes for beedi or cigars to be carried out outside industrial premises, except where a worker is given raw material by an employer or contractor to make beedi or cigars at home.
