The amendment to section 129(3) of the Customs Act requires that the President be appointed from persons who are or have been a High Court Judge or who are one of the members of the Appellate Tribunal, with the appointment made by the Central Government, thereby making judicial experience or tribunal membership the statutory eligibility for the presidential office of the customs appellate body.
