Withdrawal of charges permits discontinuance of remaining counts after conviction, creating an acquittal unless set aside.

When multiple charges are framed against the same person and conviction is had on one or more, the complainant or prosecuting officer may, with the consent of the Court, withdraw the remaining charge(s), or the Court may stay inquiry or trial into those charges; such withdrawal has the effect of an acquittal on the withdrawn charge(s), unless the conviction is set aside, in which case the Court (subject to the order setting aside the conviction) may proceed with inquiry or trial on the withdrawn charge(s).
