Goods in transit end when buyer or agent takes delivery; wrongful carrier refusal also ends transit and permits stoppage.

Goods are in course of transit from delivery to a carrier or bailee until the buyer or agent takes delivery. Transit ends if the buyer or agent obtains delivery before arrival, if after arrival the carrier acknowledges holding for the buyer and remains bailee, or if the carrier wrongfully refuses delivery. Rejection by the buyer with continued carrier possession does not end transit. Part delivery allows stoppage of the remainder unless circumstances show surrender of the whole, and delivery to a ship chartered by the buyer raises a factual question whether the master acts as carrier or agent.
