Causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information: criminalised when done to screen an offender with graded imprisonment and fine.

Causing disappearance of evidence or giving information known or believed to be false, with the intention of screening an offender and knowing or having reason to believe an offence was committed, constitutes an offence with graded penalties: up to seven years' imprisonment and fine where the offence is punishable with death; up to three years' imprisonment and fine where the offence is punishable with life or up to ten years' imprisonment; and for lesser offences, imprisonment up to one fourth of the longest term provided, or fine, or both.
