Increment timing on promotion: next increment follows pre-promotion schedule or occurs one year after promotion, with exceptions.
Where an employee is promoted to a higher grade, if promotion occurs before reaching the maximum of the pre-promotional incremental scale, the next increment in the promotional grade occurs on the increment date that existed in the pre-promotional grade. If promotion occurs after reaching that maximum, the next increment in the promotional grade is one year from the date of promotion, except where a post-scale benefit in the pre-promotional grade accrues within one year of promotion, in which case the promotional increment date is the date of accrual of that benefit.
