Political-nature designation covers organisations pursuing political objectives, political activities, or specified forms of active or party politics.

Central Government may designate an organisation as being of political nature where it has political objectives, promotes political goals, participates in political activities, or operates as a political party's front or mass organisation. Farmer, worker, student or youth organisations advancing group political interests, and organisations habitually using political-action methods such as bandh, hartal, rasta roko, rail roko or jail bharo, are covered only if they participate in active politics or party politics, as applicable.
