Deposit requirement: appeals barred unless appellant deposits the required portion of the amount imposed before the Appellate Tribunal will hear the appeal.

The Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023 inserts a proviso in section 53B(2) requiring that no appeal by a person obliged to pay any amount under a Commission order shall be entertained by the Appellate Tribunal unless the appellant has deposited a specified portion of that amount in the manner directed by the Appellate Tribunal.
