In these circumstances the Supreme Court held that the value of the properties was to be included in the net wealth of the assessee for the purpose of assessments to wealth-tax as they were assets belonging to him within the meaning of section 2(m) of the Wealth-tax Act, 1957. For all legal purposes, the properties had to be treated as belonging to the assessee.
