....The Ministry of Finance, through CBIC, has issued a directive modifying prior customs instructions concerning mandatory adherence to Indian Standards for imported steel and steel products registered on the SIMS portal. The Order dated 11.07.2025 exempts imports with bills of lading dated on or before 15.07.2025 from compliance requirements. Additionally, Integrated Steel Plants (ISPs) are exempted from mandatory adherence after their BIS licenses are verified; ISPs must declare their status and provide operative BIS licenses to the Ministry of Steel, with false declarations risking SIMS debarment. This modification supersedes Instruction No. 16/2025-Customs, directing customs authorities to inform officers accordingly and address any compliance difficulties to the Board.....
