The amendment replaces "Certificate of Origin" with "Proof of Origin", aligning with amended Section 28DA of the Customs Act, 1962. This change encompasses both officially issued certificates and self-declarations by exporters under trade agreements. The modification aims to simplify origin verification procedures, facilitate trade, and reduce administrative requirements. The Directorate of International Customs (DIC) will manage verification requests and maintain specimen signatures and seals of authorized issuing authorities.
