....The High Court allowed the compounding of the offence u/s 147 of the Act in a case involving the dishonour of a cheque. The petitioner-accused had already paid compensation to the complainant, meeting the requirements set by the court. Following guidelines from a Supreme Court case, the court accepted the application for compounding, quashed the judgments of conviction and sentence, and acquitted the accused of the offence u/s 138 of the Act.
