Aggrieved by the order of the assessments the assessee filed an appeal before the Commissioner of Gift-tax (Appeals) (in short the "CGT(A)") and questioned the correctness of the computation. The first appellate authority held that the subject-matter of the gift was not only Rs. 1,20,286 but also certain valuable rights transferred which the assessee had acquired by making the aforesaid payments.
