The Central Government, relying on section 6 of the Customs Act, 1962, entrusts specific Customs Officer functions to named local officers in Lakshadweep: Revenue Inspectors on Agatti, Kalpeni and Chetlat; the Sub Inspector of Police on Chetlat; and Head Constables on Agatti, Kalpeni, Kadmat and Kiltant, empowering them to enforce the designated customs provisions within their island jurisdictions.
