of <h1>Coal Import Policy Amended: Compulsory Registration via CIMS Required; Effective April 1, 2021, Registration Opens February 15, 2021.</h1> The import policy for various types of coal, including anthracite, bituminous, coking, steam, and other coal, has been amended to require compulsory registration under the Coal Import Monitoring System (CIMS). Importers must submit advance information online and obtain a registration number by paying a fee based on the CIF value, with a minimum of Rs. 500 and a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh. Registration can be applied for between 60 and 15 days before the expected arrival date, and it remains valid for 75 days. The CIMS will be effective from April 1, 2021, with online registration available from February 15, 2021.
