      Amendments in Notification No. 41/2016-CUSTOMS (N.T.), dated 17th March, 2016, with effect from 05th April, 2016
      Summary: The notification amends Schedule I of Notification No.41/2016 CUSTOMS (N.T.) by substituting serial No.12 to set the rate of exchange for one unit of the South African Rand at 4.65 for imported goods and 4.40 for export goods, effective from 05 April 2016.

      Summary: A corrigendum to Notification No. 31/2016-Customs(N.T.) replaces the expression "Cigarettes:200 numbers or Cigar upto 50 or Tobacco 250 grams" in column (3) of the TABLE with "Cigarettes up to100 sticks or Cigars upto 25 or Tobacco up to125 grams", thereby revising the permissible personal import quantities for those tobacco products.

      Safeguard investigation concerning imports of “Hot-rolled flat products of non-alloy and other alloy Steel in coils of a width of 600 mm or more” into India Final Findings
      Summary: The Authority found that imports of hot rolled flat steel coils had increased sharply during the investigation period and that there was a causal link between the surge in imports and the deterioration of domestic industry indicators, constituting serious injury or threat thereof. Having considered extensive submissions on scope, procedure, unforeseen developments, and public interest, and having accepted adjustment plans from domestic producers, the Authority recommended phased safeguard duties on specified tariff headings over a multi year period with exclusions for developing countries whose import shares fall below the relevant thresholds.

      Release of E-filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) and other forms
      Summary: E filing of ITR 1 and ITR 4S for AY 2016 17 has been enabled on the Income Tax Department portal; other ITRs will follow. Electronic filing of appeals using newly notified Form 35 is enabled for taxpayers required to e file with a Digital Signature Certificate, with EVC support to be provided for other categories. Substituted Forms 15CA, 15CB and 15CC (per Notification No. 93/2016) and Forms 9A and 10 (per Notification No. 3/2016) are available for e filing effective 1 April 2016, with DSC required for online submission and EVC to be enabled shortly.
